My dear friend MM‘s son Mike is marrying Sarah next Spring in Key West, FL. Sarah picked fabulous colors of lime and raspberry for her wedding. I thought it would be fun to make an inspiration board for them. It’s totally addictive! What do you think?
sometimes a house is not a home August 26, 2008
KV and I went to a couples bridal shower (gag) this past Saturday in a multi-million dollar house in eastern Louisville. I say “house” as it was clearly not a home. Allow me to elaborate…the couple who own the home are in their mid-forties. They have three (I think) children. Their house is beautiful. I could tell it was decorated by a professional and everything was top-of-the-line. But it was missing one thing…personality. Walking through their house, I didn’t learn anything about the people that live there. I mean, where is the children’s art on the fridge? Where is the book on the nightstand? Where is the macaroni/glitter covered jewelry box on the Mother’s dresser? The kids dog Fido? There were only professional photos on the walls. No candid kids birthday photos or fun outings at the park. It was sterile. And cold. And sad. Growing up, our house was far from a mansion and it was pretty much a mess all the time, but it was a home…not just a house.
Now that I have my own home, I make sure it’s full of things I love and that are sentimental to me. If I’m ever lucky enough to have my own house with my own family, I’ll certainly go out of my way to make it a home. I want to feel happy surrounded by the people and things that we love. Making a home is about more than calling an interior decorator. It’s about making it your own by expressing your personality. Don’t you think?
lisa and tom August 25, 2008
I’m starting to get the hang of these inspiration boards! My friend Lisa is getting married on October 11, so I asked her a bunch of questions about her wedding and I made this inspiration board:

things i like today… August 15, 2008
Vitamin Water, especially the Revive and the Power-C. I don’t typically like regular fruit juices because they are too thick and sugary, but the vitamin water tastes like watered down fruit juice and I love it!
About six months ago I walked into Salon Bacco to get my hair colored, when I was blown away by the most intoxicating smell. I said “I have to have whatever it is that I smell!”. They introduced me to Trapp candles…more specifically “Bob’s Flower Shoppe”. I bought one immediately. It smells heavenly and the little poured voltive is just the right amount to fill my entire apartment.
Oh sweet mother of all that is good and pure. Almond toffee bars from Starbucks are extremely good and addictive. *sigh*
Louie’s sweet paw.
My new “Kitty” pendant, custom made by Lisa Leonard Designs. Her blog is amazing too! (The above photo doesn’t do it justice…it’s a beautiful piece.) I wear this pendant in memory of my beloved Kitty, who died very suddenly in April at age six. He was my best friend. I miss him every day.
All the door knobs in my apartment are glass. Again, the pic doesn’t do it justice, they really are unique.
This is the lobby of my building. I have a love/hate relationship with it. It was built in 1926 as a hotel in Old Louisville. It was converted in the ’70’s to apartments. Very charming, very unique…lots of quirks. LOL
Being on vacation and having nothing to do. Bliss……….
sisterhood of the traveling pants 2 August 13, 2008
So, since I’m on vacation this week, I treated myself to a movie. I went to see the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2!
It’s a very cute movie…not as good as the first, but it was good.
Okay…the REAL reason I went to see the movie is because some of the movie was shot in Greece. I’m completely obsessed with everything Greek. I love the food, the history, the art, the culture, the people. One of my closest friends (MM) is Greek. They have a certain spirit. I can’t get enough of it.
In 2006 I was lucky enough to take a cruise in the Mediterranean, but we unfortunately didn’t stop in Greece. I’d give my eye teeth to go to Greece. If the truth be known…I’d like to spend about 3 weeks months in Greece.
If I ever get married, it would be the ideal honeymoon destination. I don’t want fancy gifts or a fancy wedding…I want a honeymoon in Greece! YUM!
And what about the food??

And what could be better than a toga??
And of course…it doesn’t get any better than this:
my first inspiration board August 8, 2008
One of my new favorite blogs to read, coco+kelley, is sponsoring a inspiration board contest. Basically, you pick one of the rooms she has posted, then you create a wedding inspiration board based on the room you select!
All of the rooms she selected were amazing, and I had a hard time picking just one. But I settled on the moroccan themed room. This room is inspiring with all of it’s yellow, pink and orange!
I’ve never made an inspiration board before, but I’ve admired many from various blogs, especially Snippet & Ink! And you know what?? It was a lot of work! SO not as easy as I thought, but super fun! I might do another one!
Here’s my contest entry:
